Hello! My name is Justin Dunham. I grew up in New York City, got my degree in Ancient Greek and Latin Classics at Columbia, worked as an investment banker for a while, and then helped set up the US operations of a fantastic agricultural nonprofit for a few years. After getting my MBA, I moved back to New York and now work for 10gen, the MongoDB company.

I started this blog in 2009 because I love food. Learning about it means learning about lots of other things (philosophy, art, science, linguistics, history), preparing it demands creativity and rewards thoughtfulness, and consuming it is fun and sometimes slightly miraculous. It is a good way to express love and reduce stress, and it is a natural complement to intelligent conversation, one of the top pleasures in life.

These days cooking has become a metaphor for other types of creativity that I enjoy as well. So I update every now and then with culinary entries, yes, but I also write about other things I’ve made, and about creativity in general, and about related topics.

Thanks for reading. If you’d like to contact me, feel free to send me a note on Twitter or leave a comment on one of my entries. Enjoy!
